About the Department

The B.Sc. Computer Science (UG) was the first academic program offered by the Department of Computer Science, which was founded in 1998. In 2001, the M.Sc. Computer Science (PG) was added. The Department launched the M. Phil. and Ph.D. programs in 2003 and 2010, respectively, to raise the reputation of its research. In 2017, the Department received the DBT Star College Status in honour of its outstanding academic performance.

Programme Description

The goal of the computer science curriculum is to provide students with a strong foundation in the theoretical and practical aspects of computers. In addition to cutting-edge subjects like artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, and cyber security, it covers foundational subjects including programming, algorithms, data structures, databases, networking, and software development. As an industry-integrated curriculum centred on cutting-edge subjects including artificial intelligence, design thinking, data visualisation, clean coding with DevOps, machine learning, and deep learning is provided by the Department of Computer Science in partnership with IBM.

Through projects, labs, and industry partnerships, the curriculum promotes an application-oriented and problem-solving approach that enable students to develop analytical skills, critical thinking, and practical experience.The program includes industry-integrated training and partnerships with leading technology companies, such as Oracle Academy and ICT Academy, to enhance professional preparedness. The program's graduates are well-prepared for careers in software development, data analytics, IT consulting, and other technology-related sectors, as well as well prepared for the additional courseworks and research works.
